SAN FERNANDO CITY – Dr. Rowel A. Crisostomo, President of Perpetual Help College of Pangasinan, now chairs the Region 1 Teacher Education Advisory Council (R1TEAC) after their recent induction at the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office I Executive Conference Hall.

Regional Director Tolentino Aquino recently led the oath-taking of Dr. Crisostomo along with the other elected officers of R1TEAC. 

Also present during the induction program was Regional Director Rogelio T. Galera, Jr. of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) RO I. 

The other officers include Dr. Myrna L. Carreon, of The Shephard Kiddie School, Inc., as co-chair, Dr. Cedric Anthony E. Ochoco, of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, as secretary; Dr. Cherrel G. Ignacio, of Union Christian College, as auditor; Dr. Gladys M. Navarro, of the University of Pangasinan, and Dr. Ryan Jayson V. Delos Reyes, of Urdaneta City University, as business managers. 

Meanwhile, Dr. Maria Lourdes Almojuela, of Saint Louis College, as treasurer, Dr. Elsie C. Pilar, of Northwestern University, as Press Relations Officer, Dr. Cecilia Aribuabo, of Northern Christian College, and Dr. Eliza Samson, of the Mariano Marcos State University, as members of Board of Trustees, joined the simple induction program, virtually. 

The R1TEAC serves as a channel was DepEd, CHED, and Teacher Education Institutions in threshing-out issues, concerns, and agreements in the implementation of the Teacher Education Program. 

Further, it strengthens collaboration to promote and provide graduates of teacher education and pre-service teachers with quality teacher education. 

At present, the R1TEAC is working on a research proposal on the assessment of financial literacy among teachers, being led by Dr. Navarro.  

R1TEAC will also promote the Teaching Beginning Reading program, create a professional development program for teachers and students on financial literacy, conduct caravan of trainings and organize the Council of Student Teachers.
