SAN FERNANDO CITY – The Department of Education Regional Office I (DepEd ROI) is now on its last leg of preparation for the Year 2 of DepEd Results-based Performance Management System (RPMS).
After a series of regional trainings held at the National Educators Academy of the Philippines-Region I (NEAP-RI), the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD), is set to announce the details of the rollout of the capacity building for raters on the next Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST) priority indicators in the 14 schools divisions.
HRDD Chief Dinah C. Bonao said that the rollout of the training aims to capacitate the raters to gain a deeper understanding of the PPST indicators.
“To prepare the raters for the next 12 PPST indicators, the HRDD shall help the schools divisions orient the teachers and instructional leaders on the use of the RPMS tools,” Bonao added.
Bonao said it is the aim of HRDD to ensure that the pragmatic design of the workshop would be observed to make it easier to convey the messages of the training.
The holding of the series of activities is consistent with the national adoption of the PPST which prescribes the use of standards for all performance appraisals for teachers.
Meanwhile, Johnson P. Sunga, the regional RPMS focal person, said that the capacity building is necessary for the raters to effectively evaluate teachers’ performance.
“We need to have a harmonized implementation of RPMS-PPST in the Region,” he added.
