Bangui, Ilocos Norte — Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office 1 heads Ilocos Norte to give back appreciation and salute to the teachers, learners, and stakeholders for the successful implementation of the Pilot Limited Face-to-Face classes of the 10 schools in Region 1.
Simultaneous with the school monitoring of the pilot schools, DepEd RO1 conducts the annual gift-giving program of DepEd Region 1 dubbed as “Handog Pasasalamat” at the Padaggan Elementary School grounds on December 2, 2021.
Among the pilot schools in the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte, Padaggan Elementary School was chosen as the recipient school for this program.
The simple gift-giving program was spearheaded by the DepEd RO1 officials led by Regional Director Tolentino G. Aquino and Assistant Regional Director Ronald B. Castillo, the Regional Chiefs of the Functional Divisions, with the assistance of Schools Division of Ilocos Norte team.
The gift-giving activity benefitted 24 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 3 and Grades 4 to 6 who received school supplies, goody bags, slippers, and Jollibee meal. The learners actively participated in the fun games which was facilitated by Ms. Abigail A. Cabilin and Ms. Kathleen May M. Bautista, Education Program Specialists II of the Human Resource Development Division, and Mr. Erick L. Medrano, Senior Education Program Specialist-Planning and Research of SDO Ilocos Norte.
Teachers were also given simple tokens as a way of gratitude and appreciation for their relentless dedication as they perform their noble profession.
“Maragsakan kami la unay iti iyuumay yo ditoy. Agyamankami ta iti Padaggan ES ti napili a recipient school ita a tawen,” Ms. Marilyn A. Tumalig, Head Teacher III of Padaggan ES tearfully exclaimed.
Regional Officials also felt the same as they have experienced crossing 14 rivers just to arrive at school, which only shows the unyielding efforts and passion of teachers for the sake of learners’ continuing education.
As a recall, the annual gift-giving activity was not conducted last year because of the pandemic.
The Handog Pasasalamat is one way of making an impact to the community for the people to support DepEd’s programs, and at the same time to draw back the smiles on every learner’s face.
