The Department of Education (DepEd) Region I, headed by Regional Director (RD) Tolentino G. Aquino, formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), represented by RD Teresita A. Tabaog at the Executive Conference Hall on October 21, 2025.

The MOU aims to enhance support and participation in the implementation of the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) App, a national initiative of DOST that seeks to widen access to scientific knowledge and promote engagement in science-related activities. This partnership signifies a strengthened collaboration between the two government agencies in promoting science, technology, and innovation among learners and educators in the region.

The NSTW is an annual event in the Philippines celebrated to showcase the achievements, programs, and innovations in science and technology (S&T) contributing to national development.
Through this initiative, the DOST continues to emphasize the vital role of S&T in improving the lives of Filipinos and driving sustainable progress across various sectors.

Aside from DOST RD Tabaog, present during the signing ceremony are Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for field operations Decth-1180 P. Libunao, Ilocos Sur Provincial Director Jordan L. Abad, Edison M. Acosta, Carla B. Cajala, Karl Anthony M. Bugar, and Mark Jan R. Ramos.

Meanwhile, joining RD Tolentino are ARD Rhoda T. Razon, Curriculum and Learning Management Division Chief Arlene A. Niro, and Science Supervisor Jimmie C. Eslabra.
