SAN FERNANDO CITY – Sixteen Department of Education Regional Office I (DepEd ROI) personnel completed the HanepBuhay: Dagdag Kita Para Kay Aling Juana at Mang Juan training held at the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) here on April 27-29, 2021.

Said three-day training, initiated by the Human Resource Development Division (HRDD), aimed to prepare employees who are 50 years old and up towards healthy, happy, and financially rewarding retirement.

It is the first of the four activities of Institutionalized Capacity and Revitalizing Engagement (iCARE) for Seniors Program of the HRDD.

iCARE is a roadmap for select employees of DepEd RO1 who are 50 years and up to stay active and healthy through well-designed training focused on financial, mental, emotional, and social well-being.

With the major objective of optimizing potential of older employees by maintaining good health and obtaining financial freedom, iCARE kicked off with a financial aspect, hence, HanepBuhay: Dagdag Kita Para Kay Aling Juana at Mang Juan.  

“We made significant realizations from this training especially on how we manage our finances and how we grow our money through entrepreneurship, investment, and franchising. We can even start our own small business using the skills we learned,” Betty Cuyahon one of the participants, said.

Discussions on Financial Literacy, Saving and Budgeting, Debt Management, Investment and Retirement Planning were made on the first day with guest NEAP facilitators as resource speakers.

Skills development on homemade products, such as longganisa, tocino, jam making, and cupcake baking made the second day productive with trainers from the Graystone Institute of the Philippines in Dagupan City.

The third day were discussions on Entrepreneurship, Financial Programs and Franchising from the Department of Trade and Industry La Union and Franchise Owner of Unified Products One -Stop Shop as resource speakers.
